Here’s a comment that didn’t get many likes.
A well-known video game broadcaster has gone viral over the controversial claim that his chosen profession is more challenging than any conventional job.
“Broadcasting is a lot harder than a 9-5. [I don’t care]get mad about it,” user @WhoDontai said on X, in a post that drew swift and considerable backlash.
The man with nearly two million Twitch followers found himself under fire from co-workers who were unhappy with the inflammatory remark.
But there was more to come – the cyber celebrity went on to challenge X users to name a harder job in a separate post.
When one suggested a neurosurgeon, the player replied, “Brother never played surgery? Not that hard.”
He went on to compare serving in the military to playing “Call of Duty.”
His critics weren’t having it.
“Playing games and reacting to videos is difficult?” one scoffed.
“I want one of you streamers to do 1 full week of 8 hour shifts based strictly on pure physical labor and then get back to me,” wrote another.
Another speculated that most content creators “won’t be able to tolerate digging [piles] of animals s–t” as farmers should.
“You’re privileged,” replied one exasperated onlooker. “We don’t want to
After teasing his audience for a while, the provocateur tweeted that most of the weird comments “were not serious.”
However, he wrote, viewers should understand that the seemingly enviable gig is not as easy as it seems.
“You have never broadcast a day in your life. Don’t talk about something you’ve never experienced,” he scoffed.
One user seconded the thought.
“Editing, staying steady and safe when things don’t look too good, having a thick skin because people can be horrible for no reason, taking financial risks, having random strangers treat you like God or stare like you are. the devil… I can see it.”
The latest gag plays into a recent trend that has highlighted Gen Z workers’ frustration with routine 9-to-5 employment.
Influencers have created video series about managing the mundane responsibilities that come with a standard job, while others have emotional breakdowns.
On the other side of the aisle, there are new influencers who seem to sympathize with the stressed broadcaster’s views on the challenges that come with those careers.
They are returning to 9-to-5 roles.
